Situated at an altitude of 1200m in the heart of Baskinta, Lifehaus was constructed in 2019 on a limited budget in a country that lacks adequate access to public utilities such as water, electricity and a proper waste management systems.

The project was successfully completed in 2022 with great emphasis on sustainability, functionality, and cultural preservation.

“Lifehaus Journey” is a dramatic portrayal of Nizar Haddad’s innovative regenerative approach to modern architecture. Haddad, a Lebanese architect and the son of veteran pioneer architect Georges Tamer Haddad, is dedicated to reshaping modernity through sustainable practices and preserving Lebanon’s rich heritage. While creating a healthy atmosphere for living, Lifehaus represents a fusion of tradition and future innovation. “Lifehaus respects the environment, harmonizes with nature, and provides autonomy, comfort and functionality for generations yet to come,” said Nizar, founder of NH-Architectes.

Despite the environmental impediments, the documentary sheds light on the collaborative journey, directed by filmmaker Nassif Al Rayess, whose camera lens meticulously documented the construction stages by conducting a range of interviews with both the crew and volunteers from around the world. Remarkable moments were captured during the three years of development, from initial conceptualization to the final phases of construction, representing Lifehaus as a paradigm shift in architectural design with a potential to profoundly impact communities and ecosystems in Lebanon and the MENA region.
